About Us

Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, the Cotswold Candle Hut is a business with a sustainable ethos. A family run business, its founders were inspired to start hand-pouring natural vegetable wax candles and making room diffusers as gifts for friends and family in their Cotswold kitchen during the first COVID lockdown in the Spring of 2020.

Culture and Heritage

Our “Moongazing Hares” company logo and home fragrance collection is inspired by the culture and heritage of the Cotswolds. The brown hare has always been an influential part of the Cotswolds culture, lending its name to villages and special places such as Harescombe, Haresfield, Harebushes, Harnhill (once Harehill). Hares can often be spotted in Cotswold fields and, looking around, you’ll  see the hare represented frequently in local art. From the Roman hare mosaic in Cirencester’s Corinium Museum to Saxon carvings on church porches, our 21st century artists continue to be inspired by this enigmatic animal, with hare images embedded into the tapestry of the surrounding area. Whilst brown hare numbers have declined across the country due to loss of their natural habitats, they are thriving in the Cotswolds. Being so woven into the history of the area, the hare is a natural choice of animal to feature in our branding and on our home fragrance collections.

Quality without Compromise

Our scented home fragrance collections are inspired by nature and are made using only the finest grade of aromatherapy essential oil blends that offer wellbeing benefits for mind, body and soul.

Our candles are hand-poured, handmade and finished in small batches by artisan candlemakers using a luxury natural wax blend containing rapeseed oil and vegetable oil. Our candle wicks are made from cotton for a clean burn with minimal sooting. Our products are cruelty free and not tested on animals, are vegan, and do not contain any harmful synthetic toxins.

Environmentally Friendly

Our promise to you is that as a business we will strive to tread softly on the earth, we will strive to support our local economy through short supply chains, and we will wherever possible support British manufacturers and suppliers working with carefully selected artisan candlemakers who share our vision of making high quality, natural candles and home fragrances.  

We strive to only use recycled or recyclable materials in all of our products, labels and packaging and all of our products can either be re-used, refilled, recycled or upcycled to reduce landfill. When we curate our container candle collections we keep in mind that the product's lifetime goes beyond when the wax is finished so you are left with a beautiful container to re-purpose afterwards.
