The reason for this is that the occasion moves in accordance with Easter, which is determined by the lunar calendar. In 2021, Mother's Day fell a little earlier than usual but this year it will be celebrated near the end of March.

When is Mother's Day in 2022?

In the UK Mother's Day always falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter.

This year that date is Sunday 27th March and shouldn't be confused with Mother's Day in America which always falls in May.
